Satriani was awesome!!
Steve Morse promptly started at exactly 8PM. The sound was muddy at first, partly because we were in the very back of the steep upper balcony, and probably also the typical time required for the soundman to make adjustments. Morse's bassist was technically brilliant as was unassuming. There was really no visual presentation though.
Riot came out blazing with all guns and did an incredible romp through his repertoire, with a captivating multimedia show playing on the screen behind him. Every song was great even though I haven't followed his albums since the first two. We moved to the bottom of the balcony where the sound was much better. This show in 2026 was by far the best; I had seen Joe in 1988 on his first major tour and in 1994. When he played Surfing with the Alien, the screen showed old video footage of him playing the song back in the day with closeups of the entire fretboard. It was very cool to look back and forth between the screen and Joe and see him playing it largely note for note. His backing guitarist also was a phenomenal shredder and a demon in his own right. The drummer put on a spectacular and sometimes comedic solo that impressed me to no end. They played roughly 2 hrs, with a long encore. Absolutely worth every penny.
